Five steps to understand the basic standing cardiovascular physiology
Step 1: A blood pressure is needed
The circulation of the blood results from the pressure difference between the arteries (in red) and the veins (in blue) like the electricity runs thanks to the potential difference of the circuit. The heart is like the generator; it makes the pressure in the arteries. The very small vessels of the body are like the resistance of the electric circuit. If there is no resistance, there is no pressure difference between arteries and veins; it is like a short cut.
Step 2: The blood pressure should not be too high and should not be too low
In the standing position, the brain is above the heart
High blood pressures lead to brain damages
With low blood pressures, the blood cannot reach the brain. The brain cannot work, it stops, it is a syncope
